I cant believe the rationale here on the future of a watercooled HD. Better start thinking about it cuz its comin, not to please any yuppie or jap crowd. It for emissions....period. The air cooled motor has a very short future. Mark my words, you heard it here first.

I wonder how many that are dising watercooling have owned a water cooled bike? It's a bunch easier straddleing a 185 degree motor than a 325 degree one and cooler means longer life AND more power!
sumpin wrong with my oil temp guage cause my bike dont run 325. mine runs 200/250

The V rod motor is cooler and has WAY more power then the Twin cam...the twin cam crushes the REVO in new sales year in year out... The REVO is the Greatest motor I will never own..[]

You just can’t make that water-jacket motor look as good.

The V-Rod owners are going to love you. But as I always say "a person has a right to be wrong so tell what ya think".

Water or air cooling, no difference. There is the same amount of heat being generated either way. Water cooled engines do not run any cooler. The heat just comes off in a different place, and when that fan kicks in it will roast you with concentrated heat. I have had water-cooled bikes. I know this for a fact. And this was 20+ years ago, before they were as lean as now.

The VROD owners were all up in arms with the unbearable heat their engines were producing when they got the closed-loop EFI for 08. Go visit some of their forums and see for yourself.

Because the more restricted the emissions the hotter the exhaust, and then the hotter the overall operating temp. In earlier EFI, they would richen up to help offset heat whereas fuel has a cooling effect. However that cannot be done any more. There are tighter emmissions coming and it will get to the point that the air cooled engine will not be able to dissapate the heat generated by even leaner yet conditions. There just will not be enought surface area on the finned cylinders to do the job without having cooling fins the size of wings! And if you think a radiator looks like crap just imagine the look of that!
