Looking for tips for first road trip on a motorcycle!
I'm looking at going on my first long road trip and am look for some tips and suggestions. I have been riding for 20yrs but just day trips on my 700cc Yamaha. I just got my first Harley (RKC) and am think about hitting the road for at least a week. Maybe PA to CO. I did 300miles on the interstates last Saturday and felt quite comfortable on my RK.....I even got my first taste of riding in a downpour for about an hour. I have never traveled on a Bike and am looking for any pointers you experienced riders can give me. I have rain suit, tools kit, GPS. What else should I pack or take along? What concerns should I have when looking for a hotel as far the security of the bike at night? I'm not even sure what to ask so please feel free to offer any tips or tricks.
RE: Looking for tips for first road trip on a motorcycle!
Heres \\;some my wife and I learned going to Daytona last october. When it starts to sprinkle go ahead and put your rain suit on. once the bottom falls out you are wet and \\;there is no going back to dry. 10 hours in wet leathers is no fun[sm=trust_me.gif]. Allow extra time for your trip, you are not in a cage you will be stopping at least every 150 miles for gas and \\;this adds up in a hurry
