coming through the gate at Ft Bragg. \\; I was putting away my ID card and the knucklehead behind me thought I already took off. \\; Just a little bump, but enough to crack the tail light and both turn signal lenses. \\; Just some minor damage. \\; It did tweak the tailight bar slightly, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch off of straight. \\; I have all the info on the guy, no claim ( I can if I want, the cops have all his info. \\; So if he don't pay up for new parts, I'll file a formal citation). \\; I estimate only about 60-80 bucks. \\; I can live with the light bar slightly tweaked, gives it "character" I suppose.
 \\;
All this after a great four day trek up through maggie valley and cherokee....go figure.
Well, I kinda look at it this way. \\; If I file a formal accident reprt and go through the ins companies, I'll prolly be without my bike for a couple if not more weeks. \\; I don't wanna take this guy through the cleaners, I just want my lenses fixed (which I can do). \\; I don't plan on trading/selling my bike any time soon, so I'm sure it'll have more to take from trade/resale when I do. \\; If I file a formal report, the guy will automatically get a 100 dollar fine too.
Have 'em pay for all parts and labor, an' do the work yourself. You can always replace the "character bar" later when it's time ta sell - but why should YOU be out the $$$?
Hey damaged is damage the light bar is easy to repalce, I would get the price for all replacment parts and give the it to the guy, his choice if he wants to pay or have a hit against his insurance and a $100 fine. \\; Charcther or not it is and expensive automobile and you should not have to suffer with damage caused by someone else. \\; Even if you put a claim in against his insurance they should send adjust to look at the bike within a few days and you should have a check with in a few weeks. \\; you can then make the decision to fix it your self or have the dealer do it. \\;
Yeah, TexRed, he's gonna pay for the parts, as far as labor, it's just mine. \\; I just wanna get it fixed so I don't loose any road time. \\; I think I can work something out on the light bar, it's pretty minute as far as being off a little. \\; The cops have all the necessary info, so when I take off the lenses and I find more damage, then it will become "official" and i will want an accident report to file through his ins co.
Glebo, I got a bunch of stuff from my brother and I THINK there is a rear light bar in there. Let me look tonight. If I got one it is yours for the shipping.
