Handlbar change consideration
The touring European rider position (ex: BMW) is to have the rider over the pegs vertically, sitting tall in the saddle. No floorboards in the scenario. The rise of the rear portion of the seat tilts the rider over a little and throws some weight of the rider is slightly forward onto the handlebars. On Harley touring bikes, we sit in a chair with no back. Our feet are forward, flat on floorboards and our seat is low. We have to reach for and hang onto the bars. Our backs hurt. Our options are how much to reach and how high or low is optimal, according to our height. When we shorten the reach we initially feel we solved our handlebar problem (felt great on the show room or garage). But now we find we are still hanging on with bent arms rather than straight or slightly bent, which is still uncomfortable when touring. So, we finally buy a backrest to complete our chair.
