Fuel Cannister Shell Recall

So here's the latest on the recall service. I copied many of your reply,s just in case an argument ensued about the repair. I gave the service manager the recall service check paperwork that had my vin number on it and asked him when it would be a good time to do the work. I also gave him the upgraded part (62229-08A) to check his inventory so there could be no confusion on what part to use. He checked with the part mgr. and he had 5 shells in stock. He also said on 7/30 he received the official notice from harley on the recall. So to make a long story short, I'm scheduled to have it done next Friday 8/08/08. I couldn’t post this reply last week so you are getting it today. Hopefully, I will pick the bike up tomorrow. And to all of you who replied to this problem, THANK YOU and GOOD LUCK... Ride Safe

fuel shell recall
My FLH was built 10/07, last part of my s/n is 643651, after pulling the shell and replacing it last week with the new one from my dealer, found out my bike already had the new part installed from the factory so I just spent an hour on a learning experience (thanks DAWG for the pics). Means the MoCo was not real sure what all bikes got the old verse new part in their factory so they included a wide serial number lot to be sure they caught them all. Now if I can get them to pay me back my $34.00 for the new shell I'll be good.
