Can anyone tell me what the part number for the replacement fuel cannister shell and gasket kit is? \\; The service manager I spoke with today says he knows about the problem but nothing about the recall. \\; He also said he is putting in the same defective part back into bikes that broke down!!!! \\; He doesn't know about a newer (upgraded) part to be used for the repair. \\; Everyone who had the work done should check and see what was done before any long trips are made. \\;

There are one or more open safety recalls or product improvement campaigns on your vehicle. The following list contains the campaign number and a brief description:
Recall Notice: 0135: 2008 FL TOURING FILTER SHELL
We strongly urge you to take your motorcycle to your dealer to have the appropriate service performed as soon as possible. Should you choose to ride your motorcycle prior to this service, we urge you to be aware of this condition. Some product campaigns may have expired and you may have to pay for the service. Please see your local Harley-Davidson dealer for further details.
I spoke with the service manager at my local dealer a few weeks back, she stated that the part at that time had not been upgraded, she also stated that it was on back order and that she was hoping the reason for the back order was that they would make the needed changes
Word from the motor company is that a crap-load of \\;canisters are being shipped overnight to dealerships. \\; Call your dealer \\;with the recall number previously posted and they should be able \\;to pull up the info. \\;
Turn your handle bars to the right and look on the left side of the upper frame near the neck - there is a sticker that shows the month and year (i.e. 10/07). \\; You may have to move the wiring a bit to see it fully.
