Oiling failure signs???

Oiling failure signs???
Any good indications of when the oiling system might be ready to give up? I feel as though the top end is making more noise than normal. The oil pressure gauge is reading just bit lower than normal. The bike is an 02 Ultra with just under 31,000 on it. I was planning on pulling the cam cover this winter to check the cam shoes to see if they are really worn. Why do I have a feeling the shoes ARE really worn and possibly leaving peices in the oiling system??? Any help would be great. Thanks!

At this point it looks like I am coming up. I just need to confirm time off. The only problem is I may need to be back for work at 1200 on that Sunday for a parade.
