Luggage Rack Probs?
2005 Ultra Classic and luggage rack...anyone have any problems with the trunk lid cracking under any weight load (where the four posts are drilled and bolted on)? I know Honda Wings have the problem and I have seen both HDs and Wings with one inch chrome washers and rubber grommets installed under the four mounting posts.

No cracks in mine. I've got the removable trunk for RK. I had the rack installed for those long hauls. The most I've loaded was a small carry-on suit case, with about 20 lbs. It was an emergency and I only rode about 210 miles with it loaded. But still no cracks...

Yeah...for the price of a rack, ya'd think the MoCo would make it so it is functional...chrome don't get ya home!

I traveled all the way around the US in 1994 on an Ultra with luggage and way over the weight limit on my tourpak with no cracks. Of course I was so top heavy that I kept falling over at stop signs. He He
