DAMN and DOUBLE DAMN, Darren--that looks sweet. Glad to hear you DIY.
Now, how long will it be until you install the chrome brake calipers?
Thanks Carl. I have come very close to doing the chrome brake calipers believe me. Not sure if I want to give up the way my black ones contrast against my chrome wheel though. Hmmmm.....I'm guessing all there is left to do now is add some go-fast juice. Shooting for an HQ build this winter.
Jerry,
Just post when you get your '09 and you're ready to do this. You can even call me and I'll go over it with you if need be. PM if/when you need some help.
Thanks to all for the feedback. To those inquiring about the front wheel size, it is an 18". The illusion of making it look like a 21" is created with my lowered front fender with NativeCustomBagger brackets.
Darren, I almost bought chrome lowers a couple of years ago (I think the HD package is $450 or so), but realized that my OCD/chomeaholic sydrome would kick in requiring the purchase of wheels, matching rotors, bigger tires and calipers. So the decision to buy the chrome lowers would not be a $400 decision, but more like a $1500-$2000 decision.
Thanks for the great pics, especially the before/after shots (though they don't come close to the REAL difference seen up close, at least on my monitor).
And good luck with the HQ winter project. Call Kevin at HQ and he'll take great care of you. I was at his home garage today as he and his dad were finishing the installation of an HQ 103" Sport Touring package (10.5:1 CR/HQ 575 cams) on his dad's 105th Anniversary Ultra.
