Default Sears Jack - best spot - 05 Ultra???

I have got one of these Craftsman aluminum jacks and plan to use it on my 05 Ultra next weekend.

Could somebody please tell me the best location coming in from the opposite side of the kickstand???

Where is the best balance placement for the two supports??? Difficult to estimate where the center of gravity is.

Eyeballing it is just too risky - and I'm doing it alone. Would suck if it keeled over.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

There is an inverted U shaped channel under the tranny, The back pad of the jack should go in that channel. That should give you a good balance. I always hang on to the bike as I jack it, even though I have never had any trouble.

I put the back rail of the jack against the front of the frame crossmember. The rail will not fit inside the crossmember, too narrow in the middle. I put the jack in from the left (low side).

I guess the pads must be wider then mine 'cause I can get it inside the channel. Sorry about that.

I've got a True-Track on mine and I'm just in front of that U brace. Also, I always go in on the jiffy stand side as it's easier to raise and lower without having to deal with the jack handle on one side and the bike leaning to the other.

In the below pictures I have both wheels off the ground and the Jack locked at the first level. It's stable and moves easily. You should be very pleased.

Heres mine, seems to be a little rear heavy, but have not had any problems. I spin the bike around w/ no tie downs. I put it right against the cross member.

A little tip. When you let the bike down do it from the kickstand side with the jack bar pointing upward. I have found I have better control of the bike that way. My .02

I'm with Bountyhunter - I slide the jack under the righthand side as far as it will go on the side stand then sit on the bike to stand her up and slide the jack under the rest of the way with my foot (putting the rear pad against the front of the channel). I can then start pumping the jack while still sitting on the bike until she's stable then hop off and finish. That position is extremely stable - CWO

I guess I lift mine differently. I put the jack in from the right side, when it hits the frame I straighten it up and finish pushing it through. This way when I let it down, If it wants to go left... no biggie, the jiffy stand is there. If it wants to go right, I'm right there to stop it. The jack in front of the crossmember is as close to center that you will get with most jacks. If you're lucky enough to have a skinny jack that fits in the crossmember channel then put it there.
Have a well raised 1,
Moose

I agree wit most of others, sometimes you have to take rubber pads off lift bars to aid it sliding into u channel groove.
