I just purchased the kit from Kuryakyn. I suppose there's a million of them out there, but the idea is generally the same. I'm 6'2" and I hated having my legs squished together behind my fairing lowers. I'm also used to driving my Deuce with my size 13's on the highway pegs, so I found myself hanging my feet off the sides of my boards.
As well, I found my heel was constantly backing up against my shifter.
Once I put this kit on, it made (to me anyways) one hell of a difference. It was enough that I noticed it right away, and the kit only moves the boards out 3/4". Also, because of the position of my feet now, my heel shifter does not get in the way. I was going to put an extended lever on, but this seems to have eliminated that issue.
Installing the kit was easy, but it would depend on the tools you have. The bolts required to get the floorboard mounting brackets off are accessed from underneath the bike. With a ratchet & allen-head socket, you can get all of them, save for the rear one on the brake pedal side. It's located above the frame rail, but there's not enough room to fit the ratchet & socket between the bolt and the motor. So, I had to use a standard allen wrench & some patience.
All in all, very satisfied. An inexpensive, easy mod that made a big difference, IMHO.
