I was wondering if anyone here has the Corbin Classic solo seat on their bike and has had problems with it wearing a hole in the side of it. I bought one for my 07 Street Glide a yr ago and i noticed on the side of the saddle under the stitching that it was wearing a hole through the fabric below the stitching.
It looks to me like they use some sort of rigid plastic framing to set the foam in and on the right hand side it seems to be sticking up higher than on the left side. When i sit on the seat it squishes down and the fabric has been rubbing on this plastic edge which has caused it to wear through. I tired to email Corbin about this and have yet to recieve a email back although thier site says they will respond in one business day. It has been 2 weeks and no reply.
I'm just curious if anyone else has had this same problem so I know if its a design flaw or they just screwed up on mine. I was reading they have only a 1 yr warranty on the fabric covering. I want them to replace my seat or fix the problem even though its been 14 months. For 1100 $ it should last longer than that.
This is my 2nd Corbin seat I have owned and was real happy with the one I had on my last bike. If anyone has had the same problem please let me know so I have some ammo to use if they try to weasel out of fixing it.
All I can say is "Good Luck"!! Corbin is not known for their customer service lately, in fact, it sucks. Unless you live near one of their shops, then if you drop in on them or hint that you can drop in, they seem to fix those customers seats. But if you live in the middle of the US and the 2 Corbin shops, they screw you. Corbin will never see another customer if I can help it. They suck
would have to agree with spike. i just got my first corbin (dual touring). it took a lonnnnngggg time to deliver...missed the promised date by 3 weeks. then the back rest pad was made wrong twice. they are fixing it without any argument, which was good...it should arrive on Friday...now 8 weeks after original order and payment.
bottom line, i like the seat but the service has been poor. including a disturbing frequency of phone calls not returned. you should still give it a shot. talk to the individual that sold it to you.
I have had two Classic solos on 2 different bikes without any problems like that. My latest seat took 3 months to get right. I would think that eventually warranty it. I would call and email a pict.
