I tried the cheapy lowering kit to start with and found it bottomed out quite regularly even with the shocks full and I only weigh 200lbs, I replaced them with shorter Progressive air shocks and no more problems.
the way you can run those on a RK classic with leather bags is....you have to drill out the rivets on the rubber cushions on the bottom of the bag....then move them toward the INSIDE of the bag about a half inch and redrill and bolt them back on. I used 8-32 screws and nylok nuts. It works...road this way for 2 years.
I have the road6customs kit on my 05 FLHT (middle setting) and on my 09 SG (1st setting). I ride 2-up 50% of the time and have NO issues with the kit. I routinely make sure I have enough air in the shocks especially when we're going on a trip with extra stuff piled on.

I have the kit as well, but haven't installed it yet on my '03 FLTP. Three questions:
Did you lower the front?
If not, how did the handling change? I ask because if you only lower the front, it changes the rake on the forks.
If not, did you have to re-aim the headlight/spots?
I apologize for so many inquires, but I'm new to touring models.
Many thanks,
JW.

I did not lower the front or have to adjust the headlights. IMO, handling is much improved especially at low speeds. I don't have any problems bottoming out or scraping and I ride pretty hard sometimes.
