Yep did the turn it off and pull the maxifuse for 5 minutes. CD would still not come out. Sreen displays the song title but no sound. Day 4 coming up to get HD to fix under extended warranty. I also told them my battery was almost dead and not holding a charge. They said they they checked it out and it was ok. They added $40 to the bill. I said get real. Made the manager turn on the switch and hit the starter. Turned over real slow. I told him to fix the damn thing this time and left. Will have to see what tomorrow brings. I did the radio update to fix the fast clock problem and cutting out from time to time. Watch out for this update
The HK radio sucks just plain and simple. As someone said, for a high priced unit, it's a POS. Mine has started to cut out now the past 3 weeks. Riding along, sound stops. CD is still spining, volume all the way, no sound. Turn it on/off 4-5 times and she comes back on. Piece of junk. Gonna do the update and hope it's a software glitch and not the radio itself..if so, I'm going aftermarket. For $300 bux you could do a radio that will perform better and more reliably than this junko
http://www.harley-davidson.com/cp/mo...?locale=en_US& is the link for the update. Latest version is 8.19. Dealer agreed to fix mine under extended warranty. Had one overnighted last night and should get it out of the shop Sat. Dont know what my final cost is yet. Had to replace battery. $157 plus labor. Could have bought 3 Diehards for that. I bitch about my the cost but would not ride anything but my UC.
I followed the instructions on the HD site, and checked my 08' SG a few nights ago just to see what version mine was running. The web site said if it is running anything less than 08.19.0 that you should burn a CD with the latest update, and then put it in the CD player on the HK head unit. When I checked the head unit it said it was version 10.02.0 or something like that.....all I know is the number was way higher than the 8.19.0, and I didnt have to do anything else.
It updates the firmware on the HK head unit. I've done it about five times, going back and forth and finally settling on 8.19 (latest), and never had a problem. I wasn't aware that CD's came in different thicknesses, and that's a new one on me. I use very old CD-RW 4x.
Pez at Hogtunes recommends software version 8.0.9. Works great for me. Seems there was some sort of issue with 8.1.9
I tried 8.09 as per Pez's recommendation and had issues with it. The clock ran 3 min/month slow and there are supposedly problems with CB operation, although the latter wasn't an issue for me since I don't have a CB. The sound quality was unchanged from 8.19, IMO, so I moved back to the latest version.
I used a CD-R from CompUSA and it got stuck. I did a upgrade a few years ago with no problem using a CD-RW. Didn't have a CD-RW this time and did not think it would make a difference.
