Default Lowering the roadking

How low can you lower the Roadking and what is the best kit to use? Air-ride with compressor?

12" shocks will drop it 1 " air ride is nice but pricey. arnott air ride best buy. white bros. springs for the front can drop about 2" imho i dont recommend lowering blocks on the rear. geometric angle is changed and bottoming out is and issue for some. hope this helps

All depends on how much you want to spend and the ride you are looking for. The lowering blocks where on my RK when I bought it, the change in the angle of the shocks caused it to bottom out 2 up. I went to Progressive 440's on it. On my 07 EGC I have the HD low profile shocks and keep them pumped up a little stiff (30 psi) and am happy with them. I did the Front end on my EGC also. Spoken to a few guys with the Air ride and they love it because of how adjustable it is and that they can adjust it on the fly.

Many options to choose from..

I really liked the 440's on my RK

Per HD & Progressive they recommend not dropping the rear more then 1". And Air-Ride system would be the way to go (Arnott makes a good system and there are many others in the after-market) But if you want to go with just a lowering rear shock I would recommend Progressive 440's

I used 1" shorter Progressive air shocks on the back and Harleys std 1" lowering kit on the front. So far it's working perfect.

I've enough Harley bucks to get the front and rear suspension lowered using the H-D parts (Profile and I see another made just for the RoadKing) and to have them install it. But I've learned with cars, that the stiffer strut/shorter-stiffer spring combo often compromises the ride.

So I'm pondering the comfort and adjustable of the Arnott systems (which this thread literally just tipped me off to). I see that Arnott offers 12" and 13" systems. Adjustable and a lack of a mention of adjustable.

Above it was mentioned that the 12" system drops the bike 1". Therefore the 13" system drops the bike....zero? What's the measurement indicate? Need some edukashun on this pre-purchase please. I think I'll pick up the Arnott and I want to pick the right one. Thanks.

I am getting ready to do this. I spoke to the guy at http://bitchinbaggers.com/ and he will sell you hd rear shocks rebuilt already lowered. He has multiple options available for different lowering heights. The price was very reasonable.
