Default Article in this months Baggers Mag

For bikes that wobble

There is a "how to" install a stabilizer kit article on bikes that have the "wobble" in this months Baggers magazine. The article goes on to say the wobble is because the engine/drive system is moving around in the frame because of the rubber mounted engine. It says rubber mounted touring from 1994 and up may have this problem. The article did not mention anything about the 09 changes.

I doubt they had a chance to review any of the 09s prior to the printing of the mag. It will be interesting to hear if the new frame on the 09's resolves the problem, but any of the stabilizers for earlier models like the TWR, RideStr8 or others will do a good job eliminating the problem.

Funny, I have heard about this all over the web, but none
of my friends or I have this problem. I have 2 baggers, and neither one of them has anything even close to what could be
called a wobble. Both my bikes are straight and true, no wobbles at any speed. Guess I must have got a couple of the good ones?
Maybe my riding style doesn't push the bike enough to show this trait?

Default Wobble?

I just got back from Sturgis and paid close attention to this wobble... I beleive I had a wobble, not quite sure... maybe I am just trying to hard to feel the wobble.

I read about this as well and lots of people swear by these stabilizers.

Is it like my new bushings for my riser clamp... not knowing i had weak bushings before, then installing the new one is where I felt the performance improvement... a scenario that I dont knwo I have a problem until it gets fixed?!?

curious to others going into this foray

i guess my question is if the wobble is caused by rubber mounted engines why dont dynas have this issue? isnt the wobble more likely caused by the rubber bushings in the swingarm axle assy? seems like a sta bo or similar setup would be a cheaper and more sensible idea

It's not a wobble, it's a wallow. I believe it's primarily caused by wrong wheel alignment.

wallow = To roll the body about indolently or clumsily in or as if in water, snow, or mud.

wobble = To move or rotate with an uneven or rocking motion or unsteadily from side to side

I'd say mine wobbles. And I checked my tire alignment. Sorry hoss... straight.

The wobble is caused WHEN the rear tire comes out of alignment and moves back and forth left to right....

Have you not read the 20 different websites and at least 2 bagger mags that explain this? Nothing about tire alignment, nothing about "wallow".

Wobble.
