Made it back home from Sturgis[first trip]..3800 + miles and with 12k on bike .,shut off bike and restarted to move it and the belt broke in half.Looks like a hole was in the middle of the belt.Guess i was lucky I was at home when it happened.I have the ext warranty but although it wasn't broken to abuse HD won't give any help.Is this the norm????I had heard that HD might help since all services have been done at dealer,Guess they were wrong...Just wanna get some input from you guys...Thanks

Just looked in my 07 warranty/exclusions book, they specifically state chain/belt adjustment and in () have including chain replacement. I dont know if you would be successful in arguing a typo like this, but HD hasnt used chains in decades.

They're referring to the primary chain, I'm sure. Based on the strict wording you've quoted, I would say the belt is covered in the warranty. I wouldn't have a clue about the extended warranty, though.

I didnt think of the primary chain as what they were referring to, but you mentioned it had a hole and I would think that could be considered "road hazard". That really sux because that a major pita job to do. I would suggest doing the bushing swap on the swing arm and maybe a chrome inner primary since it will all be apart.

I talked to the warranty clerk at the dealer today and he said HD claimed there were too manny claims against the bike.I have only had the horn replaced a few times and thats all the claims I have had done,doesn't make since thay they would say that..Heck I paid for the warranties and have had all work done at the dealer,services and all.
