Try checking the rev limiter if she's fuel injected it shuts stuff off like the fuel pump. Factory is like 5800rpms and the stage 1 moves it to 6200rpms.
Thanks for all the replies folks. I'll check my connections at battery and ground to see if they are tight.
I know the bike is low miles and yes I bought it 11 months ago with 6700 miles so I'm not doing too bad am I?
I did install the HD fog lights on the crash bar about 2000 miles ago. I tapped into an aux. 15 amp lead under the fairing and it is unswitched so on all the time. Could this be the problem?
I had a carbureted 99 RK that would consistently shut down whenever I accelerated heavily through 3 or more gears, usually from a dead stop. Each time it did it, I thought it seemed like it was running out of gas! I would roll to a stop, wait 30 seconds or so and it would re-start fine. I replaced the stock fuel valve with a hi-flow Pingel valve and it never did it again. My stock valve may have been defective since the fix didn't seem to make sense.
+1 on the rev-limiter.If you ever get your RPMs up high enough, the rev-limiter will kick in and your bike will have no power.Pull over and get the bike back to idle and it should be good to go again. You can also upgrade you ignition that will put your RPM rev-limiter at a higher RPM(or remove it completly).
