Default Tranny fluid change, keeping it upright

Since I am new to Harley, every day is a learning opportunity. I changed my motor oil (piece of cake) but when I went to get the bike upright to drain the tranny oil I found my Craftsman bike jack is too wide for the frame, in that it gets in the way of the drain plug so I cannot get the drain pan under the bike in the right spot. What do you guys do? Do you use a wheel chock? I would need something that does not need to be secured to the garage floor. I would rather not put a center stand on my bike. Advice?

Before I got my center stand, I always used a small length of 2x4 lumber; it worked perfectly.

Or you could just pull the plug, then sit on the bike for a few minutes to hold it upright. It doesn't take that long to drain.

Put your bike jack towards the front of the bike, You don't really need to lift it, just need to keep it upright.

You can use a regular small jack stand. Just wrap the stand very well with a rag so that you dont scratch the bike. Place the stand under the right side saddlebag horizontal trim and gently lean the bike on to this. It will support the wieght and wont bend or break provided you dont sit on the bike.

you can drain it fine with bike on jiffy stand, it's only when you want to check the oil level thatr it needs to be upright. So what I do is drain it first, torque plug with torque wrench, then put a block under stand. I also have a stack of 4x4's and wood that I put under frame on the other side to help prevent bike from falling over if I bump it.
