If the '07 is a better financialy go with it.The money you saved can go towards a tuner, pipes and AC.

Red face Dumb question!

Sorry, but I got to ask this:
What exactly does stage 1 include on an '08 RK and what is IDS? (I need cooler!)

I bought the 07 new and have not had any issues. Heat is not a problem. I did upgrade the exhaust to rinehart true duals. Runs great. It comes with cruise control. The larger engine with the 6th gear is helpful on the interstate. Runs real smooth at 75. 5 gallon tank and gets good gas mileage as well. Throttle's up nice. Brakes well. Pics attached.

The 07 has the stronger 96 engine and 6 speed. The transmission noise can be reduced with Red Line shockproof fluid. The heat issue can be reduced with fuel management. The 07 RK comes ready for cruise control but it is an accessory, not standard equipment. Some dealers ordered their 07's with cruise or installed it before putting it on the floor.

All other things being equal, go with the 07.

I'm aware of the valve seal issue on some, but cast crank/bearing is a new one. You saying 05's had a bunch of crankshafts break?

My apologies. I thought cruise control was standard on the RKC.

It might be...I was speaking about the RK only!

Sorry for the confusion!

No. I am saying that all '03-up bikes have an inferior cast crank compared to the earlier bikes forged cranks, plus all '03-up have a weaker crank bearing design compared to the earlier bikes as well. The later cranks overall seem to have more runout when compared to the earlier bikes.....Important for people wanting gear drive cams.
