Default Got towed today

Went out for a ride today on my '01 King and got about 5 miles into my ride and all of a sudden, it stalled. Acted like it just shut off, no sputter, no noises, just stalled. It will crank just fine but won't fire, I check spark and there is none, any ideas?

Voltage regulator? I am not a wrench, but the possibilities are few with no spark. Good news is it should be a simple easy fix. Good luck.

Hmmm, I am doubting it's the voltage regulator. In 2000 on my brand new Dyna it started cutting out on the way home and finally stalled and died. The electric start would not even turn over the engine. It ran until the battery went dead. It was towed to the shop. The salesman pushed started it. He found that the plug was in the rubber boot to the voltage regulator but wasn't plugged into the socket. That's my experience with a voltage regulator and leads me to believe that if it wasn't working the starter would not turn over the engine because of a dead battery. But I'm just speculating.

Same thing happened to me over a year ago. Take the PCIII out of the circuit and try to start it. My PCIII had gone bad.

Default Got towed today ...UPDATE

Well, my voltage regulator took a dump and took my battery with it. $500 later I am back on the road. Never thought a regulator would just kill a scoot that quick, oh well lesson learned.

+1 on above. Nothing like being stranded and then being towed.

Have you ever had the stator wire connector moved up on the frame. There is a service bulletin out that moves this connector so oil from the primary doesn't seep down the wires into the connector.

Don't know if there is a connection between oil in this connector and regulator/stator problems but I would check your connector for oil if it was me.

Glad they found the problem. Seems odd that it would still crank with a fried battery though. If it happens again, check the crankshaft position sensor. They can fail at operating temps and then work fine till they hit that critical temp again.
