I own a 05 FLHT standard. Have put a little money in it, hd radio, stage one , SE mufflers and lowering kit. I want to invest in some engine chrome but not sure how it would look with the silver motor. Just went on a benefit run yesterday and didn't see one silver motor that had much chrome..just the polished aluminum....I like the bike but didn't realize how plain it looks having the silver motor. I just don't get that "WOW" factor like black and chrome. love the 09' SG but not practical for me to buy right now....any one running this silver motor w/pics's
dont have any fotos but i have seen a couple silver motors with the chrome engine pkg. definate WOW factor. but not cheap. about 600$ for the chrome pkg. plus the labor if you dont wrench it yourself. maybe polish on the aluminium and make it shine!
You can pull the heads and jugs do the 95 kit and paint the heads and jugs black. It would look good on the silver motor. My dyna has the silver motor and I put black parts on it .I think it looks allot better now.

I have a buddy that has just finished changing over his 01 Electra Glide Standard from polished to chrome. It was a little expensive, but it definitely gave his bike the wow factor. He spent a couple of years polishing the stock pieces, but it never would shine like chrome, not to mention the chrome is a hell of a lot easier to clean. If you ask him, it's well worth the money. I'll try to get some pics for you.
I just had my nine spoke wheels polished to match the silver motor. That was 300.00 and ties all the polished look together. You can also check out any 06 or older CVO ultra with chrome and silver motors they look very nice!
Yea, check out the older Roadglids, they have grey motor and chrome. I have a riding buddy that has grey motor and lots of chrome and WOW! I look at it dewel. Look what you just said everybody has black w/chrome. If you got the pocket change go for it. You will get a lot of looks!

I used to ride an Electra Glide Standard. I would polish the aluminum with Mother's polish and a mini polishing ball mounted in a drill. The results looked great.
Guess the color has something to do with that? I had an older model Fire Red Pearl FLHT and went with a lot of the extra chrome to set off that color. My new one is an 08 Black FLHT, and the silver motor with the polished covers buffed up (I use Mothers metal polish) looks really good...IMHO? I have found that putting a little elbow grease with a good polish can get that trim on the silver ones looking real close to chrome - for a lot less $$. Just takes a little on going maintanence is all.
