Just put the Road King high handlebars on my 05 Road King Classic this last Saturday. Did not have to change or extend wires. They are tight, but work ok. Took me longer than the 2 hours suggested by the dealer. Just followed the book and got it done

I changed the bars on my 1995 Roadking. Not a real problem, just a little time consuming. I also changed a set on a Roadking in a parking lot in Oklahoma City for a young guy that had crashed and bent his bars while on his way to the 100th anniversay. The dealership was too busy to do it for him, and I was just hanging around anyway.
Just get a shop manual and follow it. You'll be fine, and the satisfaction of doing your own work is gratifying.
Regards,
Bill
hey Bill, just my $.02 worth, its people like you that make all the difference - most people are too busy, rushed, scared, whatever, to help out when it really counts / is needed; it's what's inside that counts - thanks
Did the High Bars help much? Have the 05 also and thought about reduced reach, but just don't want to spend the extra money for wire and hose so looking at the high bars. Did they change much of the apperance of the bike? or just more comfort....

I put a set of White Brothers 16" Ape hangers on my 02 RK. They are comfortable, and they look cool! Had to extend cables, and put the wiring inside the bars, but was not a bad install.
I installed the RK High Bars, the hardest part is removing the nalace to get to the bar clamp. You might want to think about chroming out the controls and changing the grips while your at it. I didn't and had to take the controls apart all over again.
