Try Lucas or Mobil1 synthetic for V-twins. I've used them both and really like the product line. I have also run both in the tranny, 75/90 or 75/140 (for South Florida)
Because people think they are going greener by moving from foreign oil imports, and the syn dealers are going to gouge the public just like every other American company (others too)....Its called greed! Part of the reason imho a lot of the industrialized world hates American ideaology. My .02
"Greed" has been around since the first intelligent living organism formed on this Earth. Has nothing to do with being American.

Check the Amsoil website. Retail price is $11.05 this morning. That does not include shipping or taxes. Two years ago, Mobil 1 V-Twin was $10.95 here in my area. In case you have not noticed, everything costs more. And your local guy had to pay the shipping to get it to his place. He could have just quoted a price that included shipping and you would not have known the difference.
Hope you'll reconsider. It's a great product.
Sorry HAMNHOG but i'm just so tired of being gouged! I do like the product and think it's better than DINO that's why I started using it in the first place but this is the final straw for me. For years motors have survived just fine with DINO and I guess mine will get along just fine to!
As long as we keep submitting to the higher prices they will continue to rise. There comes a point where we have to take a stand and resist.
This did it for me.
I say quit riding. That should lower your oil bill substantially... I was going to offer to sell it to you at my cost, but the gouging comment took that off the table. Sorry, I'm not taking a loss on my cost so everybody else can feel good.

The recomended chang is 2x that of dyno oil is it realy that much more? If it goes 2x as long then not so bad for better protection is it?

An object lesson in supply and demand economics here. Price goes up too much, customer finds a more acceptable alternative.
The price of EVERYTHING produced in this country is linked to oil and energy. Fuel prices go up, so it costs more to get raw materials and deliver finished product. Add in the rate increases for electricity and you can see why the price to the consumer is up. Not to mention $8/hr minimum wage......
I called my local Aimsoil distributor the other day and asked for 4 QTS. He said come on over and pick it up and the cost will be $52 including tax and shipping. I said WTF my last order for 4 qts only cost me $31.
I think I am going back to the old fashioned DINO. The engine will run quieter anyhow.
Anyone paying that price for their Amsoil?
Mobil 1 15w50 costs about $22 for a 5-quart bottle at Wal-Mart, sources tell me. It's an excellent oil for Harleys based on several tests conducted by MC mags, and may be the best oil bargain out there.
I thought Amsoil didn't use dino oil as a base, so why would the cost of oil have a big effect on Amsoil.
Same reason that cordwood has doubled around here, and it doesn't have any oil in it either, or not much anyway....
Greed, and price gouging, the only reason I can see.
Last year, I got wood for under $200, now it's gone through the roof, at least here in NH.
Rags
Yo' Dude-
I just bought 10 cases of Mobil V-twin at $8.00/qt. delivered to my door from a retail distributor. No freight. Just a thank you for my business. Check out your local distributors and see what they'll do. Amzoil may be good but there are others that are as good if not better.
BTW - ALL synthetics come from dino based oil stock. They simply arrange the molecular structure to their own specs and build the oil from there.
