If you remove the air baffle you won't be able to stand all the wind coming up from the inner fairing. My 2000 Roadglide did not have the baffle and it was the first thing I put on after I got it. I've had the lowers since the bike was new.

I have a set of brand new glove box's I bought because I was told they had the ultra doors on them instead of the rectange door's the RG's have so that I could install the hog tunes speakers from pez in them, got them and they had the same door as my old used ones :-C there're still in the boxes from Zanotti. I'll take $240 for them if your're interested, shipping shouldn't be more than 20 I'd think, maybe less. I didn't remove my baffle either ;-D

I put the hoppe vents in, it helps but when its hot you dont notice the difference. The lowers are hella warm. I took the dampner out, didnt notice a difference either way and I dont get ANY wind coming up from under neath, I have 14k on and in fact with stock w/s it is a major dead space to me.
Havent found glove boxes yet. Gilbos, will those fit a RG?

I have the baffle still in place with the lowers on. Has been like that for around 17k miles, no problems that I know of. I don't have any vents installed in the lowers, but there are some nice kits out there.
