Just read the latest American Bagger, they talked about lowering a RK, they show a 07 RK with leather covered hard bags/with buckles. Lowering kit made by Pingle Enterpises , I'd like to lower my 05 in the rear, but, in the Pingle add, they state, you cannot use this kit on a RK with leather covered bags. I call the tech line and they confirm this, anyone know of a lowering kit for the rear that will work with leather covered bags? The tech told me it would make the bags too close to the shocks and would give the shocks a bad angle. But, in the AB mag, they show them mounted, anyone try this with success?
I read the same article, and have the same mod on my bike, only using the White Brothers kit, which works the same. I have mine with Leather bags, and have had no issues. I can't see the difference in the two kits that make the Pingel hazardous to leather bags.
Not sure about the Pingle kit. Mine is lowered 1-1/2" in the rear with rear lowering kit by R.U.B ahd 1" in front with Harley Front Profile lowering kit.

Typically speaking you will not get quite as good a ride with lowering blocks that you would if you were to lower with shocks. Not flamin on anybody that has them. I ran them myself 4 awhile. With that being said, they are considerably cheaper than shocks and for some, the ride differnce may not be enough of a sacrifice than the money is. All that to say the loweriing blocks should wowrk fine with either set of bags.
i think the problem with leather bags is the notch in the back of the bag where the shock sets is a tight fit, when you move the bottom of the shock backto lower it rubs the bag.....i think but WTF
there is a place in phoenix called www.bitchinbaggers.com. He will take your stock air shcoks and rebuild them so it loweres your bike. Or you can buy a set from him and keeps your originals. This is going to be my next upgrade.

Reason: fix web link
Look up TJ Products, I believe this is the only kit that does not change shock angle. I had (have) a Burly Brand on my Road King Classic & had to use spacers behind the saddlebag brackets & the front lower saddlebag guard mount to the frame. Bag still show some minor scrapes in the shock indented area. I got lucky & found a TJ Products kit on ebay for a steal, no saddlebag issues now but I also changed to hard bags not long after.
