Default rear lowering kits?

why do most rear lowering block kits say they wont work on rk classic models? can they not be "made" to work with the leather bags?

I believe its because the lowering kits change the angle of the shocks. if you look at the backside of the RKC bags youll see that its kinda formed to fit around the shock (kind of an indentation),is the best i can describe it. if you change the angle of the shock, it will rub the saddlebag. thats what i was told at the dealer, anyway. ride safe

So if this is so, it begs the question.
How have those who have lowered RCK's done it?
Cause they are some out there....

I put a lowering kit on my RK Classic. To get around the saddle bag issue the kit included spacers to space the bags out from the shocks. It also included rivets to move the rubber pieces that clip to the support rail on the bottom of the bags.

You can always go with shorter shocks, won't change the angle then.

You can move the bags out a bit, or buy shorter shocks. I have a friend that bought some street glide shocks off of ebay, the guy that sold them put some 1/2 inch taller progressives on his street glide.

Strictly speaking it will do slightly, although I can't see it will be enough to cause a problem.

What is in a 'lowering kit' if it is not shorter shocks?!

There are kits out there that can lower the rear of the bike "1 to 3 inches", by changing the angle of the rear shocks. Looks like an adapter plate with a series of extra holes.
