Hopefully it'll be fixed for good now. Good luck with it.

Took my Heritage in on Saturday. The dealer has a first come, first served deal at the service center. Told them to change the fluids. As the guy is checking it in, he notices there is no tread left on the rear tire. Ok, new wide white wall. Then he says the brake pads are worn down. Ok, new brake pads. Total was $445. Oh yeah, they tell me there is leakage around the shift shaft seal. So I have to take it in on Thursday and leave it for a day. They figure 3 hours labor. I'm glad I got the extended warranty when I bought it used two years ago.

That is the MOCO's largest warranty issue at this time. They redesigned a double lip seal that still does not work. We do at least 1-2 Trans / Shift shaft seals replacements a WEEK. And I'm a small dealer. The knick in the shaft is from the sorry Tech that used a screwdriver or seal remover to pull the old one out. The nick is probably at the sealing surface.

Default Shaft Seal

I replaced that shaft seal 2 weekends ago. Had to replace a bum stator, thought i wold fix my leaks as well. The seal I go at the dealership looked like a 3 cent o-ring, glued to the bushing. I figured, what the hell and installe dit anyway. Here is an incredible HD post showing directions, and a quality looking seal. If I need to replace it again, I am using this seal. Read this instructional post. One of the best ones I have seen. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/89699-got-an-electrical-problem-need-help.html
