Antenna recommendations
I have the shorty rubber type antennae on my 04 Ultra. Both are cracked and one had stripped threads. I should replace them. I do not have access to the original antennae or I would put them on. Any recommendations for replacements? Thanks.
I have the shorty antennas from J&M audio on my Ultra and have not noticed any significant loss in signal. I often get clear signals from radio stations 60-70 miles away. I live in Northern New York and the classic rock station that I usually listen too originates in Kingston, Ontario about 55 miles away. When I head to Syracuse, I can normally (unless the weather is real bad) get this station as far south as Pulaski about 30 miles down the road.
I think the radio antenna is not so important. Just about any type will work. The CB antenna is the one that needs to be a good one. I went with the J and M and unless it my bike was right next to another bike it would not work properly. Tried some off of ebay and they were the same. Put the stockers back on. I just ordered the 09 shorties from HD, but the CB antenna is back ordered til the end of September.
Hog Tail (16") antenna for Ultra Classic can be found
on ebay........
I bought one of these to replace stock on my R/G.....
Very good quality and service......approx $20, its powder
coated black or chrome your choice....
I have the J&M shorties and am quite happy with them, got real tired real quick of the stockers snagging on the garage door on entry and exit.
Radio reception is as good as the stockers IMO and the CB transmit and receive is OK but could be better but then again I don't expect the CB on my scoot to get out like is has a 500 watt linear on it anyway, works fine bike to bike and yapping with the truckers while cruzin the interstate. Makes it much easier to access the tour pak and wife is happy not smacking her head on them stockers all the time.
