I'm going to try and get down to 6th street, looks like it's only about 10-15 miles south of where we are staying. I was playing with Google Earth last night looking around the area, but their pictures are a few years old so it's not truely up to date.
Steve, too bad you're not visiting my area. After seeing how much pride you take in your bike, I'd loan you mine for a few days to enjoy the countryside. It chapps my butt how much a dealer wants to charge a bike owner to rent one when he's from out of town. Especially a person who owns and maintaines his own bike like you do. Just my $.02 Dan
Too bad you can't ride the area, one of our favorits olaces to ride is the hill country. Maybe someone in the area has a second bike he could ride one evening. I know Maine is a great place to ride also, but let's show Steve what we have to offer, both the area and hospitality!!
If we had a full day to spend on our own, I would rent one for sure. But we'll be in training during the days, and only have the evenings to get out and see the area.
I think the Round Rock HD dealer is right near our hotel from what I can see on MapQuest. Going to get there for sure to pick up a t-shirt.
Leaving Sunday morning, but I'm bringing my laptop with me so I'll still be connected.
I am telling you now that since you are staying in RR you need to head east on Hwy 79 to Taylor and eat at Louie Mueller's BBQ. Then you can say you have had one of TX's best BBQ joints around... Can't go wrong...
I agree 100% Louie's is BEST (next to Cooper's in Llano; but it is 70 miles from RR).
Don't get tricked into thinking RR is Austin- it isn't by a long long long shot. RR is a great suburban but totally misses on the wierd crap that happens in Austin.
Other cool place near you. The Cajun Cafe off old Main street in RR has a rocking cold beer and some of the best cajun food around.
Check out a baseball game a Dell Diamond - minor league team stadium in RR.
Get to Austin and enjoy the views - they can't be beat.
Be safe, have fun, drop me a line if you need anything - Welcome to Central Texas
Zlaneb
If ya achance there is a scooter place on Sam Bass rd. it is the rt 79 just the west side of 35. called the road house, cold beer pool and maybe some live tunes. once under the 35 it is about1/2 mile just before the RR tracks on the right. The run to Austin is quick maybe 20....25 minutes anyplace on 6th street rocks tons of choices.
In old town Round Rock is a place called Lousanna longhorn Cafe, good cajon. Ya have Central HD right on the north frontage road north of 79. Thursday nights at Twin Peaks is bike night.......Twin Peaks has nothing to do with mountians . If you are leaving Thursday bike night at Cyotee ugly on 6th street a Cowboy HD event is wenesday. If your "friend" is looking for some fine skin.....perfect 10 is in Round Rock
