My buddy that is going also is looking for a "bunny ranch" in that area.........LOL
Steve
Well, if you've ever heard of the broadway play "Best little ***** House in Texas" you'll know that our famous Marvin Zindler news commentator closed down the chicken ranch in La Grange, Texas. Him and the sheriff had a little confrontation in front of the news cameras where the sheriff grabbed his toupee and swung it around on his finger shouting Marvin Zindler, Marvin Zindler. That was an end of an age for sure. LOL
Heading out in the morning as long as "Hanna" allows us to leave. It's supposed to be right around Maine tomorrow morning...........hope we can get in the air on time.
Hope you had fun there, I am a Jersey boy, lived in and still visit Texas quite a bit, good people, good food (except Pizza). I travel the world for work and still Texas is on the top of my list to go to. Lived El Paso twice (Army basic and back to live as a professional bastard Instructor ), love El Paso, now visit Houston, Beaumont, San Antonio. Great State, great people. safe trip home
Well, it's clear we have some Texans here, and, I agree with what I think I saw in this thread that for BBQ, you can do better than the "best rated" Salt Lick in Driftwood.
My recent experience mirrors the recommendations. I was there with a group just a few days ago. Their policy of "No Separate Checks" essentially means that your group have an "accountant" along to handle the one ticket you get (ours was some $80+ bucks), to distribute the food costs, taxes, and tips to the group - a major hassle, simple for the restaurant, but a headache for the group. Not acceptable, IMO.
And to my tastes, the BBQ sauce is better almost ANYWHERE else. I was very disappointed, given all the hype I've seen over the years for that place. I won't return to the Salt Lick.

I just Mapquest'ed from our hotel to the Round Rock HD dealer, and it's .9 miles away driving, or about 100 yards away "as the crow flies". From what I can tell, I'll be able to see it from our hotel but it's on the other side of IH-35 and won't be able to walk to it. I'll get there for sure for the standard T-shirt purchase.
Check..Cowboy Harley is directly east across the interstate from your hotel. Agree that RR isn't Austin, but there is some fine food just south of your hotel. Saltgrass Steak House - great beef! Chuy's (pronounced chew-ees) is an ecclectic place with great Tex-Mex; the best one of the three in the area is down by Zilker Park. La Margueritas also has great Tex-Mex, but more of a family place.
Well we made it to Texas.......and it's great down here, I love the weather and so far what I've seen of the area.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen 1 Harley on the roads at all. Granted I haven't done a lot of traveling around here, but I still would have thought I would see some bikes going by.
We just had a rain shower pass thru Round Rock, and from what I've been told it's the first rain in about 3 months.
