A guy I met yesterday had an 09 SERG, beautiful bike I must add. BUT, the seat did not meet the console, it had about an inch gap. I have looked at others where there was not a gap. For 31K that was bad!!!
In speaking with him, he stated that there was an Ultra with a front fender that did not match the bike. I wonder if the boyz at the plant are a little pissy about the lay offs?
I was at the local shop yesterday and I sat on a new 2009 Heritage. The left hand footboard was half round (that's new for 09) but the right hand footboard was rectangular (the old style). I asked about it and they said they didn't even notice it before, and no, they hadn't changed it to that. Uh huh, maybe you're right, nedster.

Poor quality = Fewer sales = More layoffs.
Unless the guys at York are complete idiots, I seriously doubt there's any sabotage going on. A few bad apples in the barrel aren't proof of a conspiracy.
There's an old saying "You get exactly what you pay for". When ANY factory lays off people and forces remaining workers to try to maintain production output mistakes can and do happen. Harley is no different. They try to keep production up with fewer workers and quality ALWAYS suffers. I'll keep the present scoot for that reason and let somebody else be the quality control guinea pig.
I live near the plant, to stand out freezing their nuggets off during the strike only to find themselves pounding the pavement. Stranger things have happened!!!
