Default Road Glide Wind Management

Thinking of a Road Glide. Been riding an EG Classic for twenty years. The only thing I wonder about is the difference in wind management between the two. Any experiences to share?

The RG is solid at higher speeds and also handles very well on slow speed manuvers. If you can, rent one and take it 'round the block.

I never rode a batwing but all it took was one 2 hour putt on a Road Glide to sell me! Better ride one first. I see people bitchin all the time about head buffeting but I don't grasp the problem. Guess that comes from riding for 40 years. 32 without a windshield! handles like a champ...

If you really look at the contour of the sharknose, you'll see the subtle protrusions to the handgrips a la batwing unlike the old tour (rubber) glide frame-mount. Big difference is the whole bike via the frame manages the wind instead of the wind just pushing the handlebars. Crosswinds are still crosswinds, but focusing on what the whole bike and not just the handlebars are doing is the whole concept here. No handlebar mount fairings on GP roadracers!

I had the head buffetting with the stock wind shield. Changed to a Clearview +2 and I'm happy.

Lower fairing made the biggest improvement for me and the Clearview!

I have a 1" over stock clearview, and have great protection with no buffeting on my RG. great ride in and out of the wind.

I recently did a one day rental of a Road Glide. The shark nose fairing was great. I got little or not buffeting from the the shoulders down. I had significant buffeting from the shoulders up but I am tall. I have no doubt that a taller aftermarket windshield would make a big difference. Try it, you'll like it!
