Yes the Clearview does have a little bit more of a slope to it than the stock shields have. Plus, it is two inches wider to provide a bit more protection to shoulders and hands. I talked to the Clearview owner "John" just last week (last week of Aug 08) and he tells me that they had a new Road Glide in his shop that day. They wanted to take measurements and see what it would take to re-configure their Clearview shield so that the mirror would not make contact with the shield when the bike was parked with the forks in the locked position. He mentioned that Harley had made a change on the 08 mirror mounts and that he was going to correct the problem on his new shields. He went on to say that at the end of the day they made the new windshield and took it out for a test on the Road Glide. According to "John" the new windshield worked great and it no longer made contact with the mirror when in the locked position. I think he said that instead of being two inches wider it is now just a tad less in width. Anyway, the long and short of it is that any new order which come in for late model Road Glides will get the new re-configured Clearview Shields. Unlike many motorcycle aftermarket shops this guy is super nice and a pleasure to deal with. I think he told me he had been making his shields for nearly twenty years now. Shop is somewhere in Colorado and it takes 4-5 weeks to get your windshield. Each shield is pretty much custom made. He says he has a few "blems" from time to time and those are available without the long lead time.
It's not the windshields that cause the buffeting.
I took care of the buffeting with a couple hockey stick blade tips. They eliminate all buffeting. I can wear a baseball hat at 80mph and it won't blow off.
(sorry about the big picture)
just pick my 09 road glide up today after trading in my e/g classic. killer bike but i am 6'1" and have already ordered clearview + 2 to do away with head buffeting
