Has anyone had 2" (reach) pullbacks installed on an 08 Street Glide?
One dealer tells me there is no product available and another dealer tells me the product exists but I would have to install handlebar mount mirrors. I am desparite for a solution to my neck and arm problems.
Thanks!
Thanks.
I've learned that I can install Wild 1 Chubby part #W0575 on my 08 SG without having to change the cables or mirrors. Anybody have any info contrary to that?
Good news. There are several choices for handlebars. I prefer the Flanders bars as they are the stock 31" wide. Click on the sideroadcycles URL below. You will need to have the bar end machined for TBW. Flanders provides a pattern.
WildOnes are the choice of many. They are 34" wide. But, they are already cut for TBW.
You may need TBW wire extenders. Check the hdbikeparts URL below. You will probably need new clutch and perhaps brake cables.
Most important. You will block the fairing-mounted mirrors. So, handlebar mounted mirrors are in your future. You can use inexpensive rubber plugs to plug the fairing holes or buy that painted inner fairing you know you want anyway...
No matter the hassle or cost, change your bars. Your enjoyment will increase 10X and it will pay you back every single ride.
I have an 09 Street Glide and am also looking to replace the bars.
From everything I've found, any pull back bars you install will block the fairing mirrors. This is according to everything I've read on the internet, talking to folks who have replaced their bars, and talking to HD service folks.
I'm leaning toward the bars by Khrome Werks, just because of the price difference compared to the Wild 1's.
I just replaced the stock bars with KhromeWerks 515 sweeper bars. This is on a Ultra but it is virtually the same with a SG. These bars are 2" taller and about 2" more pullback than the stock bar. The only part I had to replace was the clutch cable #38649-08, all the wires including the TBW are plenty long even the front brake hose is long enough. The 515 bar comes already machined for the TBW and they cost way less than the Wild Ones. If you are going to do it yourself be prepared for an 8-10hr job it is not difficult but very involved. Oh you will need a shop manual too.
There always seems to be a struggle between comfort and looks.I also wanted to keep my fairing mirrors for looks, but I installed the Wild-1 575s for comfort.I love my handlebars but they did make my fairing mirrors useless.
I just replaced my stock bars with the new klock werks ergo bar, love them!! stock mirrors are fine, they make them in 3 different bends too.
Check them out.
