I have a line on a E Glide standard Police for about $14500 otd, 2007 with 8,000 miles. Of course it has the 103 and 6 speed, I was just wondering if it is a pain in the *** to change out some of the police stuff (controls and some of the other little extra stuff) and change seats (if it is anything special about them or just a regular seat). I'm assuming that any of the FLHT parts would work but I'm not sure.
Any of you guys with experience with Police bikes that can fill me in would be great.
Thanks, Big J
1. The handlebar switches and their configuration are different, so if you want chrome switch housings you will need to find chromed police housings, or change some of the wiring to use the civilian switch housings. Not a big issue to change (I did mine and I'm no tech; buy the Police Supplement to the Service Manual for the needed wiring diagrams).
2. If you want to add a stereo/headunit, the police EG doesn not have the wiring for the handlebar controls that would be found on an FLHT, but Biketronics has a handlebar switch kit for this.
3. The detachable stuff goes on the same, but due to how the saddlebags open on the cop bike, a TP would need to be raised about 3/4"--not difficult at all.
