Default Want more out of my 95"

An 03 Road King with 40K on it. Stage 2 with I'm assuming SE-203 cams and python slip on exhause. Bought it used this spring. I'd like more power, but don't need tons more or really want to break the bank. Would a different cam help much? Any ideas and what would cost likely be?

i'd pull the heads off and go throughem. set um up to handle something around a 570 lift cam and have um ported. pm for a phone number for my head guy, probably around 800 maybe less for the headwork. i bought a brand new set of tw60 andrews for 100 bux. don't be affraid of valve lift, when set up properly, will remain rather trouble free. i run a 640g in my dyna back and fourth to work.

Going with a 2-into-1 Exhaust will also give to a performance gain

My SE RG with stock SE exhoust and filter (which is a 95 with SE-203 cams) is very fast. I did switch to the andrews 37N cams as I changed to the new cam chain system and did not make this change for increased power. The cams are almost identical in grind so I did not re-tune the bike and it runs great. If your having a power issue with the same basic set-up as mine maybe having it dyno tuned would help. Note: My bike was dyno tuned at some point before I bought it but could not get the dyno sheet so I am not sure what it is putting out. I would like to have it checked at some point but just for the hell of it.

Quality headwork, a bump in compression, and a good set of cams will make it a completely different bike.

Have a look here: http://www.head-quarters-usa.com/customtwintypet.html Read the descriptions and see if any of those three sound like what you're after & then click the respective link for that combo.

You did not mention if your bike is carb or efi. Either way tune is critical for getting everythign out of the build ~ you just go about it a little differently.

I went back through your threads and the RKC is your first HD. If you are coming off a metric, the HD will feel a little lame. The stage II kit is about the best for durability and power for the money the previous owner spent. Dumping up compression (upper 9s) with a little head work and a cam change to a Woods TW6 or smilier grind would be about the cheapest and you would still maintain durability. Depending on cams and who does the heads, $800-$1500 in parts plus someones labor.

Hey guys, thanks......especially FXSTD for looking thru my past posts. Yeah, this is my first harley, but I've ridden the evo, the stock 88 (stage 1), and 96 quite a bit. What got in my head was this weekend, I rode my buddy's 99 RK with just a stage 1 88 and we both agreed that my 95 seems a bit putzy. Well, it actually pulls very hard after about 3100-3300 RPM, but I'd like it to maybe produce power a bit lower. The bike is EFI and I don't want the 2 in 1 pipe.

The reason your buddy's bike is faster is in the primary gearing: his has 3.37:1 primary gearing; your's has 3.15:1 gearing. It's an easy parts swap and many do this; there are many threads on the mod--about $450 list price to swap the compensating sprocket and clutch sprocket--uses the same primary chain.

I don't have much experience with different combinations of builds and performance parts, but the SE 255 cam will build lots of low end tq.

My bike has mild hp, (92) but the 109 tq is very fun to ride and gets off the line very quick.

It is very strong off the line and will easily pass a car at highway speeds just by twisting the throttle and not having to downshift.

Cheapest and easiest way for more seat-o-pants fun is always gearing. Bike or car.
