Installed the black front air baffle that comes standard on a RG. Looks like it directs air down toward the engine and will reduce turbulance around the lower fairing and fuel tank. I like the look of it, fills the gap in nice. Part #58520-79A, plus 3 chrome button head allens.
Ya know.... There's an even better part on the RG, it's just up from that baffle you installed. The Windshield mounts to it and the radio is installed in it!
Hi BH, what does this air baffle do. My RKing does not have a screen and I get wind that is directed upwards and tries to lift my helment. Maybe this would help.
Roadtrain, you might get a little relief from the baffle, but it's main purpose is to direct air toward the engine. This baffle was standard on Electraglides until about 2001 when the MoCo removed it, presumably because too many riders said that although it might cool the engine, it made the rider hotter. The RK, of course, is a different animal, and any effect of the baffle might be diminished.
I found the part number from when BH sent it to me in a PM, and on the HD site it does not come up with anything. Zanotti's has it on there site for less then 10 bucks. Part number for the Black one is 58520-79A
I am going to do some searching tomorrow for one of these from one of the local dealers.
service manual for my '05 road king has a section on it....2.18 or something like that, states to take it of for 70 plus degree wheather and to put it back on for colder weather, it does reference giving releif to the rider in respect to taking it off due to heat.
