i was wondering if anyone had the same problem that i did well i have 2006 streetglide with a little over 10 thousand miles and i have to replace the front master cylinder cap and gasket anyone ever heard of this problem before any information will help thanks for your input .
Yep, it is/was a warranty item. I had an issue with my '07 and warranty covered it. One of those "silent" issues. They changed the material in the gasket to prohibit brake fluid oozing out and corroding the cap in the new gasket they replace the old one with.
Not sure if I made my point clear, but to summarize the newer gaskets used are a new material from the older ones and these newer ones don't allow the oozing between the cap and gasket.
Kinda one of those things that if you don't mention it, HD won't either.

I had the problem on my front AND back master cylinder covers. Replaced both of them with the chrome covers and solved the problem...plus, it looks nicer.
Hey petemac, take a look around the edges of your master cylinder where the cap and gasket meet the body. If your's is leaking, it will be raggedy and rough looking where the corrosion is starting. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones and won't have to mess with it.
