Question CB channel selection.

Is there a common channel that people usually use,
like for a charity/poker run?
I recall #19 was used at one time. Now when I ride, 19 is silent
except for an occasional person cussing and swearing.
It would be nice if the poker run organizers would 'suggest'
a CB channel and put it on the advertisement fliers.

Yup, channel 19 is still the most popular for us old timers who still use a CB. I agree with your comment about the cussing on 19. In our area its mostly some young punk who likes to fire up the truckers driving through the area and yes, it works...unfortually...

I have a CB on my Ultra and use it all the time. I like to BS with other bikers I'm riding with or with truckers goin my way.

The biggest thing about CB's is that even though truckers have them they use cell phones so their radios are silent most of the time.

I bought my first one in '68 and have had one in every vehicle I've owned since. Yup, I'm a die hard...:>(

Usually bikes stay on Ch 1 in my area, the trucks own 19. I have found that most bikes one the road can be raised on 1 if they have a cb on.

Most of the riders in my area use Channel 28. Gets us away from the truckers and with squelch up about medium we only hear each other.

Hmmm..... channel 19, 1 or 28. That narrows it down!
I remember from years ago (I think) that the antennaes are tuned
to be more efficient in the 'mid channels'.....19/20/21. If that is correct
I can see how 19 or somewhere close, would be better.
I have never used my CB on the 2004 Ultra I bought in March and since I do not ride with other CBrs, I was just wondering what channel I could leave on and
just try and hear what may happen. Thanks for the tips. I will try 1 and 28
for awhile.

The only "reserved channels" I know of are 19 for the truckers and 9 supposed to be the emergency channel. Police vehicles used to be equipped with CB radios and most of their radios had a channel 9 overide so they switched to that channel automatically with a transmission. I don't know if that is the case anymore. Most bikers in my area use channel 5.

I've been told that channel 1 is the national biker channel. I just leave mine on 1 and if I feel the need to talk to a trucker, I'll flip over to 19.
