Default another heat issue ?

I recently put on the HD seat shield i also have the xied's.Just the other day i added V&H monsetr oval slipons.I still have alot of heat atleast that how it seems.Dont know if the xied's are really working.Anyhow i understand adding true dual headers will help but if i add the true dual i have to also add a fuel mgt system. If i were to only add a fuel mgt system be it V&H fuelpac,PcIII depending on the price would this work just as well with the heat issue.Or is the true duals + fuel mgt a neccessity.Trying to keep the cost down.

Take it from me, you don't need true duals. I put them on my "08" uc and it was still hot. I had the dealer do a sert at the same time. Still hot. I had it dynoed at Johnstown and it is better but still hot. Moral of the story, everything helps a little but nothing takes it all away. My nephew put slip ons and a fuelpac on his SG and it runs good, and is as cool or hot as mine.

Default Hot...

yep...Hot...makes great sense to add 800lbs of fairing/chrome and expect it to run like a dirt bike...duh...tradition at the expense of good sense. Whats worse...WE BUY IT...and perpetuate the insanity.

I added ied's to mine with fuel pack and V&H slip ons and it helped, now adding synthetic oil...it will help...help help help till your broke and cooked!...kinda like being in the healthcare business (I am) we treat the symptoms but ignore the problem and wonder why we die. (on the side of the road) hummm...

Here is something to know...your heat problem at idle is helped by the ied, the heat issues at 2Krpm's and above are addressed by the fuel pack. Now if a man sits on a hot stove with his feet on a block of ice, on average he is comfortable right? So...On average your HD should run juuuust fine...This is called HD logic. There ya go.

Damn shame y'all spent all that money on a Harley and then spend more to make it run cooler. Besides ABS, there's nothing about the new touring bikes that makes me want to sell my '05 Ultra Classic.

Had the oil cooler added to my "08" Electra Glide I have had no heat issues. They get warm that's an air cooled bike for ya and the extra CIs added to the heat.... but it's not unbarable!!!

Its not that i dont expect any heat.I've owned a harley before and i know they get hot.But since i've read here on several posts that some have claimed they have eliminated some of the heat issues by different means like true duals, is why i have posted my question.Regardless if i have to live with it so be it,i enjoy my bike as is but if there is anything that i could do to make it more bearable/comfrtable without going too expensive i would like to do so.Some here if i remember correctly even thought that the heat issue is because of the 96 engine in comparison to the earlier 88.So there really isnt anything you could regardless. But i dont know which is why i'm asking.

The heat issue is just plain old running the bike to lean. You need a fuel managment system to richen the bike a some and it will cool down.
I have an after market air cleaner, D&D Fat Cat, Harley Premium Oil Cooler and a Harley SERT these four things have made a large differance in the amount of heat coming off the bike.
I also have to give credit to the set of RJ Originals heat sheilds I use.

I see that you have the K & N air filter. If you do not have some kind of a fuel management device to increase your fuel you have to be running waaaay lean this will cause your bike to run hotter than normal. Check your plugs and see if there are signs of running lean - "white" If so then I would add a fuel pak or power commander, an oil cooler will help some.

After installing V&H true duals, the heat problem was much better. This also has a lot to do with a good tune to correct the stock lean condition. I was riding the other day for over two hours in 90* heat and the rear cylinder never shut down with the EITMS enabled.
