You can still do it.. Depending on what Fuel Management System you go with the settings will be a bit different. FuelPak check it out here http://www.fuelpakfi.com/

Your bike runs hot because it is running too lean. You can easily solve this problem. I have V&H 2 into 1 exhaust, Arlen Ness Big Sucker II air cleaner and a Power Commander III. I added an oil temperature gauge to know how hot the engine was getting. After the parts were added the temperature did not go above 230 degrees in 100 degree weather. I have since added an oil cooler and now it does not go above 215 degrees.

WRONG! You can richen up the mixture with a SERT just like you can with a PC. You can do any custom adjustments you want with it. The SERT (at least mine did) comes with maps (settings) for off-road use HD add-ons (SE IIs, SE AC, etc.) Even with using others add-ons such as V&H Ovals, AN BS, etc.) you can adjust the AFR and other settings with a SERT.

Heres my ongoing experience with the HEAT ISSUE. First I had a 2001 RK, carbed, 95 CI, and ran fairing lowers year round (I put 75000 miles on it). Hot, yes, untolerable, no. So my expectations on my new Roadglide where to be close to the Roadking. This bike is an inferno. So I did the only thing you can do, throw money at it.

1. Removed the factory heat shield, wrapped the headers in header wrap (June)
2. Installed PCIII, rhinehart slip ons, and SE air filter(July)
3. Installed saddle shields (August)
4. Installed oil cooler (Jaggs) w/bypass valve, Woods TW6-6 Cams, High top air breather, (September)

I installed the cams, oil cooler last week and I can say its cooler. All the steps make a little difference. Cost are around $2100 for all the mods, doing the labor myself. I still dont think I'll be able to run the fairing lowers over 80degrees, unless I install true duals, and add some vents in the lowers, but the weather is turning cooler, so I may have to wait for spring again or a trip to Daytona for Biketoberfest before I know the difference. A word on these cams,,,,,, damn, it wakes up the bike. It pulls like a peterbilt!

I have Vance and Hines slip-ons, SE A/C and SERT, plus the HD premium oil cooler and RJs heat shields. My bike will get a bit on the warm side when riding stop light to stop light in town, but even at near 100 degrees I can cruise the highway all day long and feel more heat from the sun than I do from the engine. I also have the water bottle holder with pouches attached to the saddlebag guards and I notice that ice in the water bottles doesn't last very long, but very little heat hits my legs unless I'm at a stop.

I put a PC3 stage 1 with about 300 miles on my '07. Stock head pipes.

The bike still ran hot until around the 2500 mile mark.

Never used synthetic. All dino, still dino.

IMHO the heat went away with break-in.

I dont have a number, and being that the weather has changed cooler its hard to compare but it is cooler. Plans are to check the cylinder head temp against any touring model with a 96ci or higher. Being that tonight there is a local bike night, I should have several examples to check.

I checked my bike last night against a 2003 ultra w/lowers, saddle shields and an 88ci. Basically the same temp between the bikes. The difference between the two: 96ci, and an oil cooler. I think thats very good. On the flip side, I checked my MPG this morning.....38. I should be able to tweak the fuel map a bit and get 40 possibly.

I installed the Rush true-dual head pipes from Fuel Moto. The most welcome change besides how much better the bike looks is the overall reduction in heat. Jamie (at Fuel Moto) hit the PCIII fuel map right on target. I road about 40 miles in 90+ degree heat and then pulled the plugs for a quick reading. Everything looked perfect. Bottom line, the bike looks a lot better, runs cooler, runs better, and sounds better. One single thing will likely not take care of your heat problem, but an oil cooler, Rush head pipes with ceramic coating, fuel mgmt system/tuner (in my case a PCIII), and synthetic oil made a major improvement in my 07 SG.
