Yes, I agree. Those folks who say a SG is the best looking bike are only giving their own opinion. You need to look at the bike that looks best to you then consider the options you want to make it personal. For example: I personally like a little bit of chrome on the tins like the EGS, but I like a lot of chrome on the engine which knocks the EGS out. I like clean paint (no pin stripes) like the SG, but I also need a tour pack and fairing lowers on the Ultra. I don't want the short short SG windsheild, but I do want the cruise.

So it appears I'm stuck in the middle between the SG and Ultra. The best compromise for me is to start with a SG and work my way up, but I have to agree that sure seems silly when in the end I would end up with a Ultra for the same money.

And so it goes on and on.

It's not about needing an Ultra, it about "got to have an Ultra," at least it was for me. they are all great bikes, go with what really speaks to you when you sit on it. Only YOU can decide! Have fun.

Looked seriously at and rode both the SG and UC last March when I upgraded from a RK. Finally I decided, why buy the Ultro and pay more only to have to remove stuff, i.e. the tour pack, then put a lower windshield on, and not to mention relocation kits for the antennas etc. You sit lower on the SG and it handle better at low speed due to being lowered from factory. I put a Corbin classic solo and touring pillion on which are very comfortable, not to mention great looking. I did however just purchase a set of lowers, for cooler weather riding. Otherwise they're the same bike, just decide if you want to spend the extra 2-3k for an Untra over the SG (Lowers were $518 from Hales HD in mansfield Ohio) It's all about what works for you!
