Default Batwing Scratch

A careless driver parked his car on top of my Ultra and then opened his door. In so doing, he hit my batwing with his mirror and left a nice deep scratch about two inches long. My bike is vivid black in colour. Is there a method of repairing this scratch without having to repaint the whole ferring? It is located on the lower right area right at the edge. I was thinking of filling it with body fill and carefully smoothing it out without the use of sandpaper and then painting it with the touch-up paint. I could also try filling the gap with layers of touch-up paint.

Are there expert detailers who could do a better job? Any suggestions would be appreciated....

If it was mine I would take off the outer fairing (easy to do) and take it to a body shop and have them repair and spray it. You will always see it if you try to do it yourself, and that might be o.k. for you, but it wouldn't work for me.

gloss black is easy compared to clear colors... I'd say many layers of touch up paint fills the crack and wet sand between coats until it's flush, polish it out.

If you got his insurance information then I'd expect nothing less than a professional repaint job.

After you kick in his door, go home and get out the touch up paint. You can build it up, after you get it above the rest of the paint let it cure for a couple of days. When its good and cured wet sand until even with the rest of the paint. Polishing compound, swirl remover, wax. I have done it on my rear fender and fairing with great results. Look at it this way if you don't like how it turns out you can always take it to a professional.

1500 to get close then 2000 grit. Go slow and take your time, it will turn out fine.
