Love Bugs
My bike still has stains from those things from a trip through Lousianna 15 or 20 years ago.
1. Wash your exposed surfaces (fairing, windshield, forks, etc.) with 1 gal. of water mixed with 1 capful of Dawn dishwashing liquid. This removes old wax build-up.
2. Buy some Rejex (www.rejex.com) and apply like wax, but follow the directions, as application requires a specific procedure.
I now use a microfiber cloth and water to wipe the love bugs away, and it is much easier than before. Rejex was developed for removing exhaust and other stains from aircraft surfaces and works on any smooth paint, plastic, and metal--but not porous surfaces. Thus, I would not use it on denim paint.
I applied two coats on my fairing, WS, lowers, and forks last April and the effect is still there. Everything is much easier to clean off, even love bugs. I'm going to reapply once every six months as a rule, and from now on I'll be applying it to the entire bike, perhaps even the wheels. This will make cleaning much easier. The best price I found on Rejex was from My Pilot Store.
