We took the car to Houston on Saturday. Somewhere in Deep East Texas, we ran into them pretty bad. The car was covered with them. I'm going to have to wash it off today or tomorrow. At the gas station, there were vehicles that were practically solid black at the front.

My bike still has stains from those things from a trip through Lousianna 15 or 20 years ago.

Here's a way to make love bug removal much easier:

1. Wash your exposed surfaces (fairing, windshield, forks, etc.) with 1 gal. of water mixed with 1 capful of Dawn dishwashing liquid. This removes old wax build-up.

2. Buy some Rejex (www.rejex.com) and apply like wax, but follow the directions, as application requires a specific procedure.

I now use a microfiber cloth and water to wipe the love bugs away, and it is much easier than before. Rejex was developed for removing exhaust and other stains from aircraft surfaces and works on any smooth paint, plastic, and metal--but not porous surfaces. Thus, I would not use it on denim paint.

I applied two coats on my fairing, WS, lowers, and forks last April and the effect is still there. Everything is much easier to clean off, even love bugs. I'm going to reapply once every six months as a rule, and from now on I'll be applying it to the entire bike, perhaps even the wheels. This will make cleaning much easier. The best price I found on Rejex was from My Pilot Store.

+1 on the Peroxide. It works great. Spray it on, gas her up, wipe em off. Guys I ride with couldn't believe it till they saw it work. Now they're all packin' it in spray bottles.

Clear coat them and you will have a custom paint theme going on. Who knows you might start a new trend.
