Considering getting slip-ons but do not need them to be real loud just a nice rumble (too many years of military flying & can't hear real well) Anybody got an opinion on the SE vs. Rush? Is one any louder than the other? Also a little concerned about all of the new laws regarding after market pipes. Opinions welcome!
I did the Rush 1.75" over the SE. Read that the newer SE pipes just don't cut it. Even the HD dealer talked me towards Rush over the SE. The 1.75" are a nice amount of sound but far from the LOUD boys.
I have the Rush 2.0 Slip-Ons. They sound pretty good, I have 10,000 miles on them and they are plenty loud. I am pleased with them and the performance with the SE Air Cleaner and Stage I download are very much improved. My 08 SG really jumps off the line as compared to before.
Just put V&H slipons on mine this weekend.. like you i didnt want anything obnoxiously loud or tingy.. heard the SE's and almost bought them until i heard the rumble of the service managers bike with V&H's basics on it, put mine on the next day and love em.. great sound!

I had Rush mufflers installed when I bought the bike. They put on 2.5" baffles. WAY to loud for me. I bought 2.0" and they were still too loud. I bought the Fuel Moto's asymetrical baffle setup and I am finally happy. Nice sound with much better performance. Setup acts like a 2 into 1 exhaust but looks normal. I have a SE A/C and the Harley download. Good power and I get 43 mpg on the hwy. I also tried the XIED's and the O2IED's from nightrider but all they did was kill my gas mileage with no noticeable heat difference.
+1...I may switch to these down the road. My Rhineharts are not overly loud as I can hear the stereo with no issues but as I do more long distance touring I may just want a bit more peacefulness as I cruise across the country.

Spoke to local HD dealer this weekend and they are pushing the Rush slip-ons over the SE Performance slip ons, he claimed the SE's were marginally louder than stock, not enough change for most people. Go to a dealer and have him let u listen to both. They usually have bikes with both somewhere on premises.
