Default Using a Steam cleaner for bike cleaning?

I see the info commercials on those handheld steam cleaners, does it really
do that? Using it for bike cleaning, no S100, no Simple Green and not using
excessive water. Could it cut grease and brighten the engine.

Anyone try these under $100 units. Shark is a common brand.

My wife bought one, but this is the first time I thought of trying it on the bike. Seems like if you are careful where you apply it, it sounds great! Will let you know if and when I try it.

There was a guy at a local dealer who used a steamer to detail clean bikes, looked like it worked pretty well

Don't wash the windshield with a steamer ...... it will remove the coating. Been there, done that.

Hmmm, not sure about this one. But then again, I'm not sure I've ever let me bike get so greasy, and dirty that I needed steam to get it off. Regular, gentle, loving baths seem to work best for my little baby. She might get burned. Ouch!! I had a little steam get me when I was dumping the pasta, and it hurt. Not sure I can risk hurtin' her. She might get mad and leave my ugly butt stranded somewhere. I don't think this is for me.....

I might have to try that to help get the dead bugs off my lowers.

Mattman, I hope you're joking. Please don't put that steam on your painted lowers. You may want to hunt somebody down when the paint peals backs, and you're looking at raw plastic/fiberglass.... Say it ain't so!

I'm thinking steam cleaning the engine, wheels and brake calipers only.
I could also use on many other things around the home, the wife might likey too.
This site has many good thinks to say, using steam. www.mobileworks.com

The prices vary from $29 to $1299, which one ?
