Default HQ 96" dyno

I had my roadglide dyno'd last week after a couple of mods. Dynojet dyno, SAE smoothing 5.

1st pull- torque=87, hp=82 : 96", HQ 575 cams, DD fatcat, stock heads, stock pistons, SEAC, SERT, compression approx. 9.2:1

2nd pull- torque=92, hp=92 : 96", HQ 575 cams, DD fatcat, HQ heads, stock pistons, SEAC, SERT, compression approx. 9.9:1

Both times tuning was done with a daytona twin tech and WEGO II.

I was a little disappointed in the torque numbers. I was expecting to see a little higher number. The torque curve with the heads was table top flat from 2500 - 5700. The curve with out the heads was flat from 2700 - 4700. Runs d@mn fine. I was mainly interested in what the heads were worth over stock. I ran with the cams only for a couple of months. There was a noticeable improvement over stock. Then put the heads on. They definately make a difference in the seat of the pants. The bike revs faster and gets up to speed faster.

Yeah, compared to the stock heads I can see where you could expect more out of it but on the bright side sounds like the cam was excellent bang for the buck.
Maybe with the 103" from HQ's you'd be getting the numbers you're after.

Thanks for the info.

A 103" @ 10.5:1 & proper tune will make MUCH more... Probably closer to 110/115.

**However**, it is very important to remember that "numbers" do not translate to rideability or quickness. They certainly can be an indicator, but that's not always the case.

Did you use the TwinScan on the dyno or just on the street? You can make rideability GREAT on the street, but it's kinda tuff to do the WFO tuning on the street.

I used the twin tech on the street. The 100% throttle cells are hard to map on the street but it is fun trying.

The bike does have great street ridability. It is a totally different ride. Better in every way.

I have 103 jugs and pistons but did not install them yet because I was curious about what mods make the most difference in power and torque.

The dyno graphs of the before and after look almost identical except the after has a little higher numbers and a longer, flatter torque curve. As far as the after ridability, the bike feels like it lost about 200 pounds. It accelerates quicker and feels overall "lighter".

In my opinion the heads made the biggest difference in feel of the bike so far. They are definately worth the money. I would say if the compression was up to 10.5:1 and the actual WOT tune was made for dyno numbers that this 96" would be right at 100/100.

Those are pretty good numbers, and if they're flat you're gonna get good pull. Very nice.

My 96" with SE 255 cams, Stage 1, PCIII and a LSR 2-1 makes 86hp and 100.8 trq.......motor has not been touched other than cams.......Thats in a 08 FLHT.....It pulls hard......Tuned personally by Jamie at fuel moto.......The guy really knows his stuff....Best part is it gets 40-42mpg all long.

One reason I did this and posted my results is because there are a lot of conflicting opinions on headwork and what is actually gained and felt on the street.

What I found was that the cams without heads do make improvement in the power and ridability but the headwork is truly where it's at. The dyno numbers dont reflect the seat of pants feel. The throttle response is awesome.

I'm interested to see what the 103 will add to the equation.

I may have the shop tune the WOT to get a "dyno number" pull and see if there is a big difference in numbers.
