Default Inner Fairing

I'm not sure where to post this request, but here it goes.
I parked my 08 Ultra Classic (vivid black) very close to an abrasive bush (the green type). In doing so, I wound up with some “scuff” marks on the inner fairing right behind the right hand grip. Not deep scratches but scuffs. I thought about using very, very fine sand paper, but later thought better of it and now I am glad I did. Instead I opted for polishing compound; it worked too good, now the fairing is (in the 6 sq inch area) a very shiny finish. Does anyone know if there is a chemical that I can buy that will restore the dull finish? Or what is the proper way to create the dull finish. All I know at this point is that polishing compound was not the answer. Any help will be appreciated.
