On coming back to town after a 300 miles trip I started to hear a kind of high intensity noise from the engine...I took to the mechanic and he found a worn out camshaft bearing which caused the camshaft tip to come out of true. He replaced both the needle cam bearing and installed and EVO 3 camshaft, since a standard one was not available...
I am now having an -all the time present- engine humming....which annoys me a lot. ..
The mechanic argues that it comes from the old oil pump pinion and the new camshaft in-gearing.
Beside of that, the engine goes fine and pulls like a rocket...
Will this abnormal noise cause a greater future damage to the engine?
Please enlight me...
thanks in advance

Did he press your old cam gear off and install it on the new cam? A bike with that many miles should stay with the matching pinion and cam gear. sounds like the gear lash is to tight caused by a bigger cam gear on the new camshaft.

Thanks foryour opinion, but my main concern is still the eventual damage that this humming (knowing its cause) could develop in the other engine components.
